Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Outstanding example featuring #25 Babe Ruth from the "Sports & Games In Many Lands" set issued by Imperial Tobacco Co. with their Edwards, Ringer, & Bigg tobacco brand. Issued in England, this beautiful full-color tobacco issue of 25 different subjects includes representation of all types of athletes (boxing, football, tennis, track, etc.), and Ruth is the only representative of American baseball. The card features a full-color scene of Babe Ruth in a swinging follow-through pose, with a short description of the scene on the reverse. It is interesting to note that this card was produced with the same image as the Shonen Club Japanese postcard and the more frequently seen 1929 Churchman card. The offered example has brilliant colors, a crisp image, strong corners, and excellent centering. This scarce high-grade Babe Ruth card represents a remarkable value in comparison to gum cards of Ruth from the 1930s. Reserve $10.
