Incredible original photograph of Babe Ruth in 1921 during his second season as a member of the New York Yankees. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. This image of Ruth, which pictures him in a fielding pose during spring training, will be recognizable to many card collectors because it was used in the production of Ruth’s card for the following two issues: 1921 and 1923-1924 Exhibit Supply Co. The original paper news caption with the date "3-19-21" appears on the reverse, as does a credit stamp. Ruth's 1921 Exhibit card is one of the most popular, striking, and classic of all Babe Ruth cards. Though many examples of the card itself exist, the original photo used for its production is exceedingly rare. This is one of only four known "Type I" examples and the first we have ever offered. The photo (6.5 x 8.5 inches), which has exceptional clarity, has light creasing and is otherwise in Very Good to Excellent condition. Opening Bid $50,000.
