Exceptional original photograph of Babe Ruth taken by noted baseball photographer Paul Thompson picturing Ruth in 1920 during his first season as a member of the New York Yankees. Encapsulated and certified as an original Type I Paul Thompson photograph by PSA/DNA. This remarkable image captures Ruth kneeling outside the dugout with his bat in hand. Thompson's credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with his handwritten pencil inscription "Having Left the dugout - I am the next man up" and a second notation ("Joo230"). This is just the second example of this Thompson Ruth photo we have ever offered (the first was Lot 2558 in REA's Spring 2022 auction realizing $96,000), and easily one of the finest Ruth photos we have ever seen.
