When Jackie Robinson broke into the Major Leagues in 1947, numerous pins were produced for sale at stadium concession stands. The late 1940s and early 1950s were the heyday of the "stadium pin" sets, so in the years that followed his Major League debut, additional Jackie Robinson pins were also issued. Aside from Babe Ruth, perhaps no player has ever been the subject of more pins (and more interest from pin collectors) than Robinson. This collection features seven different Jackie Robinson pins from the era. 1-2) Both sizes (1-inch variety, and 1.75-inch diameter) of the classic circa 1947 "I'm Rooting For Jackie Robinson" pin. The larger pin with glove-and-ball charm is Vg-Ex. The smaller pin with ribbon and glove-and-ball charm is Ex+. 3) "1947 Rookie of the Year" pin with red border. 1.75-inch diameter. Vg-Ex. 4) Circa 1948 PM10 dugout pose. Gd due to surface cracking. 5) Classic circa 1950 PM10 portrait pin. This pin was part of a larger series featuring the Dodgers. Diameter: 1.75 inches. Ex. 6) Rare circa 1950 PM10 portrait pin. This pin features the same image of Robinson that appears on a blue-background PM10, but the black-and-white examples are considerably rarer. Ex. 7) 1956 Topps Pins of Robinson in portrait. The lettering along the perimeter reads "Jackie Robinson 3B Brooklyn Dodgers." Diameter: 1.25 inches. Vg. Total: 7 pins. Reserve $200.
