Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Presented is a magnificent mid-grade example of New York Yankees Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle, the key card to the 1959 Home Run Derby set. This 20-card set was issued to promote the popular Home Run Derby television series, which was broadcast weekly and pitted power hitters against each other in a made-for-television home run hitting contest. Each of the players featured on these black-and-white cards, which measure 3.25 x 5.25 inches, was a contestant in at least one of the televised contests. High-grade singles are very rarely offered, and examples are highly desirable among player and set collectors alike. The card is crisp and clean with light wear on the corners, centered slightly to the left, and the blank reverse is entirely clean. A very light crease to the right of Mantle's face factors in to the assigned grade. This is a very rare Mickey Mantle card, dating from the late 1950s, that is on many want lists and would be a highlight item in even the most advanced Mickey Mantle collection. Reserve $500.
