Postwar Baseball - 1950s Cards

Presented are twenty-six detached pages from the four Cuban Baseball League team booklets (Almendares, Cienfuegos, Havana, and Marianao) issued by Trinidad y Hno Cigars for the 1948-1949 season. The booklets, which measure 4-7/16 x 3 inches, were each twenty-four pages in length. This collection consists of all four front covers (picturing team mascots and pennants) and twenty-two player pages highlighted by Hall of Famers Buck Leonard, Minnie Minoso, and Monte Irvin. Some pages picture players on both the front and back. Three pages are encapsulated as "Authentic" by SGC. The collection consists of the following: 1) Almendares (9 pages): Front cover, Canizares/Rodriguez, Fleitas, Gionfriddo, Gonzalez, Irvin (HOF)/Jethroe, Martin, Mayor/Rubert, and Solis. 2) Cienfuegos (5 pages): Front cover, Breard/Fleitas, Coscarat/Otero, Crespo, and Hernandez. 3) Havana (4 pages): Front cover, Formental, Gonzalez, and Lewis. 4) Marianao (8 pages): Front Cover, Arencibia, two Correoso, Duany (SGC Authentic), Ibanez/Phillips, Leonard (SGC Authentic, HOF), and Minoso (SGC Authentic, HOF). Because these pages originate from stapled booklets, all are hand cut on a side edge, with some edges showing the staple holes. The pages otherwise range in appearance from Pr to Vg (averaging Gd). A very pleasing collection of these scarce late 1940s Cuban League booklet pages. Total: 26 pages. Reserve $200.
