Graded EX/NM 6 by SGC. One of only two examples graded at this extraordinary level by SGC, with none graded higher. This extremely rare and desirable 1922 Zeenut card features the legendary Jim Thorpe at the age of 35 playing for the Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League. This is one of only a handful of cards of Thorpe issued during his baseball-playing days. In fact, this is the only card featuring Thorpe playing in the PCL (not many people are even aware that Thorpe played in the PCL after his Major League career with the Giants). Thorpe appeared in just thirty-five games for Portland in 1922 but made a significant contribution by batting .308 with one home run, two triples, and three doubles. This is an outstanding and extremely attractive example! The card is bright and crisp with light wear on the corners, no creases, and a flawless image. The blank reverse is perfectly clean. This is a very attractive example of an extremely important rarity and would be a worthy addition to any world-class Jim Thorpe or rare vintage baseball-card collection. Reserve $10,000.
