Complete set of five die-cut stand-ups featuring "Movie Stars" issued in weekly publications of The Nelson Lee Library in 1926. These are extremely rare! Most collectors have never seen a single example, let alone a complete set. This is, to the best of our knowledge, a complete set. Our consignor has not seen or heard of any other figures within this series. Each of these colorful die-cuts represents a different movie star (Harold Lloyd, Douglas Fairbanks, Buster Keaton, Tom Mix, and Charlie Chaplin). The reverse of each has the credit "Presented with The Nelson Lee Library" and the issue date printed in the center. A short bio of the respective actor is printed on the reverse as well. Most of the cards measure approximately 6.75 inches high and 4.25 inches wide. These die-cuts were issued as an advertising vehicle for the company to promote its weekly publication. This is a rarely seen set of these overlooked and very colorful 1920s nonsport die-cut cards. Two of the die-cuts (Fairbanks and Mix) have a small piece of tape on the reverse. The other three have light to moderate creases. The set is technically in modest condition due to mostly very minor flaws but is still a very attractive complete collection of this rarely seen nonsport set. Total: 5 die-cuts. Reserve $100.
