Exceedingly rare Chicago Cubs pennant dating from the early 1900s. This is the ONLY example of this extraordinary Cubs pennant we have ever handled, and we cannot recall having seen another example at auction. The design features a large illustration of a bear cub holding a bat and standing within a large "C." The city affiliation, reading "Chicago," is displayed in block lettering below. One of several truly great early pennants in this auction, all from the same advanced collection and each among the best pennants that we have ever offered. The felt pennant (25.5 inches), which is complete with tassels, displays a few spots of foxing and slight fading to the color. In Very Good condition overall. Mounted and framed to total dimensions of 12 x 33.75 inches. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Reserve $500.
