1954 Milwaukee Braves team-signed ball dating from Hank Aaron's rookie season. The official National League ball (Giles) has been signed in blue ink by the following 22 team members: Aaron (HOF), Grimm (sweet spot, Mgr.), Cooney (coach, sweet spot), Mathews (HOF), O’Connell, Bruton, Calderone, Crandall, Keely (coach), Pafko, Dittmer, Thomson, Logan, Smalley, Burdette, Buhl, Jolly, Adcock, Johnson, White, and Walters (coach). (The additional signature of Warren Spahn has been deemed to be a clubhouse example.) The date "Aug-28-1954" is written on a side panel. Hank Aaron joined the Braves in 1954 as a result of an injury to starting left fielder Bobby Thomson. The 20-year-old rookie had no problem making the jump from A ball to the Major Leagues, and after just a few games it became apparent that Aaron would be a fixture in the Braves outfield for years to come. 1954 Milwaukee Braves team-signed balls are scarce, and this an outstanding high-grade example featuring an extremely early Aaron signature dating from his historic rookie season. All of the manufacturer's stampings are bold and legible. Near Mint condition. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300.
