Rarely offered full-production sheet of 110 cards from the 1956 Topps baseball set highlighted by thirteen cards featuring Hall of Famers, including Hank Aaron, Roberto Clemente, Sandy Koufax, Jackie Robinson (twice), and Ted Williams. All 110 cards on this sheet are from the first series (#1-100). The complete series is represented on this sheet with ten of the cards, including Ernie Banks and Jackie Robinson, double-printed. Full 110-card production sheets of 1956 Topps cards are extremely rare. Fewer than ten examples are known to exist, and of these several are overprint printing-error sheets, which are far less desirable. This is only the second uncut 1956 Topps full-production sheet of 110 cards that we have ever presented at auction. (The first appeared as Lot 23 in REA's Spring 2014 auction, where it realized a final sale price of $23,700.) Collectors are used to seeing Topps sheets from the 1980s, 1990s, and more recent years, but examples from the 1950s are almost never seen. This stunning sheet is both an extreme rarity and a prize for display. Bright and crisp with outstanding bold colors and perfect registration on all 110 cards. The Hall of Famers featured on this sheet are #1 Harridge, 2 Giles, 5 Williams, 8 Alston, 10 Spahn, 15 Banks (twice), 20 Kaline, 30 Robinson (twice), 31 Aaron, 33 Clemente, and 79 Koufax. Six name-at-left team cards are also included on the sheet. The sheet, which measures approximately 40.75 x 25.75 inches (visible dimensions), displays various minor faults due to its oversized nature, including scattered creases and/or wrinkles on a few of the interior cards. These types of flaws (which are far more minor on this sheet than normally seen) "come with the territory" with large uncut sheets, which wear easily and can be incredibly difficult to store until a collector comes along and takes proper care of them. While trying to technically grade sheets like a big card is very challenging and often does not really convey condition, the important concept to communicate with reference to this sheet is that though it does have the minor flaws mentioned, it is a truly spectacular high-grade sheet that projects an extraordinarily impressive Excellent or better appearance. This sheet has been framed to total dimensions of 45.25 x 30.25 inches. We have not examined the sheet outside of the framing. This is a remarkably well-preserved (one of the finest we have ever seen) full 110-card production sheet of 1956 Topps cards with numerous highlights, including thirteen Hall of Famers, which would be a highlight in any world-class uncut-sheet collection. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Reserve $2,500.
