Rare ticket stub from Roy Campanella's first Major League game, with the Brooklyn Dodgers against the New York Giants at the Polo Grounds on April 20. 1948. Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA (submitted by PSA). This is one of only two examples graded at this level with NONE graded higher! Campanella made his regular-season Major League debut in front of an opening-day crowd of 48,130. He entered as a defensive replacement in the seventh inning with the Dodgers leading 5-3. Campanella batted in the eighth inning and was plunked on the first pitch by Giants reliever Ken Trinkle. The stub ( 1-5/8 x 2-12/16 inches), issued for a "Lower Box Seat," is lettered "Opening Day" in red. The date is also preprinted on the ticket stub. Honest corner wear and light creasing along the bottom edge accounts for the assigned grade. This is a high-grade example of this important ticket stub and one that would make a welcome addition to an advanced Roy Campanella, Brooklyn Dodgers, or baseball ticket collection. Reserve $1,000.
