Presented is an extraordinary collection of thirty-five unopened rack packs from the 1962 Topps "Civil War News" nonsport series plus two cello packs (one rack pack was opened and the third pack is missing) and the original "Hobby Cards" box. These thirty-five packs represent a near-complete original box. This popular issue features multicolored artwork of a battle scene or historical event related to the Civil War. The extraordinary artwork and accurate historical information presented on these cards have always distinguished them as one of Topps' most ambitious projects. Each rack pack contains thirty-six cards, arranged in three twelve-card cello packs (also inserted is either one or two pieces of "Civil War currency" in each cello), for a total of 1,296 cards. This collection of packs is in exceptional condition! Although twenty-six of the rack packs have a small split to the plastic, they all maintain their tightly wrapped seal. The box itself is a little rough but still displays nicely. While no guarantees can be made with respect to the grading of unopened material, there is the very real possibility that within these packs are numerous apparent MINT examples that would be ideal candidates for professional grading.
