Impressive 26-page hardcover program, designed in the shape of a football, for a football game between Harvard and Princeton on November 2, 1895, in Princeton, New Jersey. It is interesting to note that this program originated from the grandfather of our consignor, who actually attended the game. This was a particularly important game in 1895, as it marked the first time in six years that the teams played each other in football. Playing in front of over 12,000 fans, Princeton defeated Harvard 12-4. The program features numerous photos of members of both clubs, including future Hall of Famers Langdon Lea for Princeton and Charles Brewer for Harvard, as well as campus photos of both schools and the rules of the game. The program (10 x 7 inches) is complete as issued, with the original string binding. The program remains in Very Good to Excellent condition overall, with a tack hole visible on the back cover. Reserve $200.
