Rare ticket stub issued for Game 1 of the 1921 World Series, held on October 5th at the Polo Grounds, which was the first World Series game in New York Yankees franchise history. Graded FR 1.5 by PSA. This is one of six ticket stubs from Game 1 of the 1921 World Series ever evaluated by PSA. It is also only the second example we have handled in the last eighteen years. The Yankees made sure that their first World Series game would be a memorable one, as Carl Mays went the distance in shutting out their crosstown rivals, the New York Giants, 3-0. The Giants had the last laugh though, defeating the Yankees in eight games (the Series was best of nine in 1921). The ticket stub (2-1/8 x 2-3/4 inches) displays a number of moderate-to-heavy creases and rounded corners. Reserve $300.
