Originalphoto of Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer Honus Wagner with teammates"Turkey" Mike Donlin and Marty O'Toole, all admiring a baseball in thehands of manager Fred Clarke. Certified as an originalType I photograph by PSA/DNA. The photo (9 x 7 inches), which has beenmounted to a thicker backing, displays chips in the corners and bottomedge, as well as heavy creasing. In Fair condition overall. The photo has been signedand inscribed on the front by Wagner's teammate "Turkey" Mike Donlin.The inscription and signature in the upper right of the photo reads "To agood Old Pal - Best Wishes - Mike Donlin" (grading "5/6"). Mike Donlinwas one of the games top hitters during the early 1900s and a member ofthe New York Giants 1905 World Championship team. In addition tobaseball Donlin also enjoyed acting and eventually left the game to starin a play, titled Stealing Home, which also featured his wife MabelHite, who was a professional actress. After his baseball career, Donlinmoved to Hollywood, where his good friend, famed actor John Barrymore,helped land him bit parts in many films. In Hot Curves, which was abaseball movie, Donlin played a scout. Unfortunately, Donlin neverachieved stardom on the silver screen and just three years later, in1933, he died of a hear attack at age 55. As a result, his signature isscarce today. This is a fascinating photo featuring two Hall of Famersand the scarce signature of the legendary "Turkey" Mike Donlin. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (photograph only).
