Pair of signed limited-edition lithographic prints picturing, respectively, Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays. Each player has signed his print in blue Sharpie, with the signatures grading "9/10." These prints, which replicate each player's 1953 Topps baseball card, were produced from the original 1953 Topps artworks for each card. Each print is hand numbered "966/2000" in the lower left margin. In 1989 the Marriott Corporation purchased the two original 1953 Topps baseball-card artworks of Mantle and Mays for a combined price of $209,000. The company then produced a set of 2,000 limited-edition signed lithographs made from each artwork. Today, these limited-edition signed prints are scarce. This is only the fourth Mays and fifth Mantle example we have offered in the last twenty years. Each print (11 x 15 inches) remains in Nr/Mt-Mt condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance, dated October 23, 1989, signed by John W. Havron, Vice President of Food and Beverage Marketing for Marriott Hotels and Resorts.
