Original uncut strip of three cards (plus one card detached) from the 1923 W515-1 strip-card set, highlighted by Hall of Famers Babe Ruth and Dave Bancroft. The popular W515-1 strip-card set consists of sixty different Major Leaguers. This issue was originally sold in horizontal strips of ten, which were intended to be cut apart by hand by youngsters. Surviving, as-issued uncut strips are extremely rare! This uncut strip, of course, is all the more remarkable as it includes #3 Ruth. The common player on the strip is #2 Mamaux. The detached card is #1 Cunningham (Pr). The strip is bright and clean, with vibrant colors, but is technically in Poor condition due to heavy creasing and overall wear. Despite these flaws, the strip, which measures 4-1/8 by 2-1/4 inches, offers a superb opportunity to acquire an almost never seen uncut strip of W515-1s, in its original form as they were issued at the candy store in 1923, highlighted by New York Yankees Hall of Famer Babe Ruth. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
