Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. Presented is an extraordinary rarity of Philadelphia Athletics Hall of Fame manager Connie Mack issued by the Standard Biscuit Company of San Francisco. Standard Biscuit Company cards are very similar to M101-4 and M101-5 Sporting News. Perhaps because they were issued by a bakery company, Jefferson Burdick elected to give this M101-4/5 related issue its own catalog number. D350-1 Standard Biscuits are much rarer than most related issues. Standard Biscuit cards (as well as M101-4/5s) have a glossy coated surface, which is very susceptible to creasing. To date, PSA and SGC have combined to grade only 201 examples (of all subjects) from this rare set. This is the ONLY example of Mack (in any grade) to ever be graded by PSA! This is an extremely attractive example! The front and back are both clean (even toning on the reverse mentioned for accuracy). The image is bright and crisp, and the contrast is flawless. Centered to the far right, with light wear to the corners (corner creases on three of the four) and minor surface wear to the left of Mack's image. The reverse advertisement for Standard Biscuit Company is perfectly bold and crisp. This is an extremely striking example of Connie Mack featuring an ultra-rare back advertisement from one of the most important baseball-card issues of the era.
