Derek Jeter Louisville Slugger signature model "P72" bat dating from the 1999 manufacturing period. Graded GU 10 by PSA/DNA. The bat, which is not cracked, displays evidence of outstanding use along its entire length, including numerous ball marks and stitch impressions on all sides of the barrel (ball marks include blue-ink transfers and white-leather scuffs), cleat marks, and a light application of pine tar on the handle. Jeter has signed the bat in silver paint pen (grading "10") on the right side of the barrel. The 1999 season was an outstanding one for Jeter and the New York Yankees. Jeter led the league in plate appearances and hits (219 was the highest regular-season total of his career). He batted .349, with 24 home runs and 102 RBI, all of which were career highs, which helped lead the Yankees to a World Championship. Derek Jeter is the greatest shortstop in New York Yankees history and one of the few players to be honored with the title of "Captain." During Jeter's celebrated twenty seasons in New York, the Yankees won seven pennants and five World Championships. Like Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, and Mantle before him, Jeter personifies the most recent Yankees dynasty and is one of the most revered players in team history. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2020. Length: 34 inches. Weight: 31.8 ounces. Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA. Separate full LOA from James Spence/JSA (for the signature). The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Reserve $1,500. Estimate (open).
