Rare New York Yankees ticket stub from the game in which Mickey Mantle hit his 500th career home run. While Mantle World Series home-run ticket stubs are common in the hobby, those from his regular-season milestone achievements are much more elusive. This is just the third Mantle 500th home-run ticket we have ever offered, and we can recall seeing fewer than ten at auction over the past twenty years. Mantle's historic blast took place at Yankee Stadium on May 14, 1967, in a game against the Baltimore Orioles. The victim that day was Stu Miller, with the epic blast coming in the seventh inning with two outs and no one on base. As it turned out, Mantle's home run was the decisive run in the Yankees' 6-5 win. The ticket stub (1.5 x 2.75 inches), which is for a "Lower Stand Box Seat," is encapsulated as Authentic by PSA and displays as Excellent overall. It would, however, technically grade more modestly due to vintage tape across the top and bottom, which does not detract from the display value and blends nicely with the ticket's yellow color. This is an exceptional surviving example of this important ticket stub, which is likely missing from even the most advanced collection. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
