Cincinnati Reds ticket stub, issued for the club's home opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates on April 8, 1963, at Crosley Field in which Pete Rose made his Major League debut. Rose, who was 21 years old at the time, went 0 for 3 with a walk in the Reds' 5-2 win. Although his debut was inauspicious, Rose finished his rookie season with six home runs, 41 RBI, and a .273 average, numbers that earned him the Rookie of the Year Award. Graded VG 3 by PSA, the ticket (3.5 x 1.25 inches) is issued for an Upper Grandstand seat and displays a number of light, unobtrusive surface wrinkles and tiny creases. None of these detract from the ticket's overall Excellent display value. This is only the second example of a ticket stub from this game that we have handled. The first appeared as Lot 2133 in REA's Fall 2020 auction, realizing $3,240. As ticket collecting continues to grow in popularity, debut tickets for significant players and Hall of Famers are sure to be among the most desirable. This is an outstanding and rarely seen example!
