Colorful broadside heralding a Negro League doubleheader between the Birmingham Black Barons and Detroit Stars at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama, on Sunday, July 25th (no year is listed). Also heralded on the broadside is an appearance by "The Flying Nesbitts," an African-American acrobatic/gymnastic troupe. Members of "The Flying Nesbitts" are pictured in two separate photos displayed near the base of the broadside. All items relating to the Negro League are scarce and this piece is no exception. This broadside originates from the offices of Hatch Show Print in Nashville, Tennessee, where it was saved as a file copy, and is the only example we have seen. The broadside (14 x 21.75 inches), printed on cardboard stock, displays a heavy vertical and horizontal fold. In Very Good condition overall, but it displays as closer to Excellent. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
