New York Yankees program issued for a game against the Chicago White Sox. This program features the preprinted names of six of the eight White Sox players (either in the starting lineup or in the listing of the reserve players) who were later banned for life by Commissioner Landis in 1921 for "fixing" the 1919 World Series: Joe Jackson, Buck Weaver, Hap Felsch, Swede Risberg, Eddie Cicotte, and Lefty Williams. Also featured in the program is future Hall of Fame football coach George Halas. Halas played with the Yankees for only one season, with his final appearance in a game taking place on July 5th. Any White Sox programs from 1919 have always been highly prized by collectors. The fact that this is a Yankees program, and dates from George Halas' short tenure with the club, makes it especially appealing. The eight-page program (6.5 x 9.75 inches) displays heavy wear throughout and has not been scored. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
