Wilson Pittsburgh Pirates ball by Hall of Fame outfielder Roberto Clemente in blue ink across the sweet spot. Clemente has inscribed the ball "To John/With Best Wishes/Roberto Clemente," with both the inscription and signature grading "7." Clemente singles featuring a sweet-spot signature are scarce. For reasons unknown, Clemente almost always chose a side panel when signing a baseball, making a ball such as this a rare exception and one that has always been highly prized by single-signed ball collectors. Of course, all Clemente single-signed balls are rare because of his tragic death in 1972 at the age of thirty-eight. The ball displays only a few small spots of light, scattered toning.
