Boston American League Base-Ball Club stock certificate signed in black fountain pen (grading "10") along the base by team owner Joseph Lannin. He has executed the certificate, which is issued to August Hermann, twice, once each in the Treasurer and President positions. Hermann was President of the Cincinnati Reds from 1902 to 1927. The offered certificate, dated December 16, 1916, confers to Hermann forty shares of capital stock, and he has endorsed it on the reverse. The Red Sox corporate seal appears along the base. The word "Cancelled" is written across the center, with each of the Lannin signatures having a line drawn through them as well. The certificate (12.25 x 9 inches) is in Very Good condition overall, with no folds, a few light surface wrinkles, and minor chipping in the top and bottom right corners.
