Two postcards, each capturing players of the famous Nebraska Indians baseball barnstorming club. The Nebraska Indians baseball team was formed in 1897 and for the next eighteen years they crisscrossed the country as one of the premier barnstorming clubs of the era. With a roster composed of Native Americans, hence its name, the club was not only competitive, but also entertaining. Humor and clowning were part of the team's standard fare, and the carnival atmosphere it fostered normally insured huge crowds at each ballpark they visited. Each postcard is graded FAIR 20 by SGC. 1) Postcard capturing fifteen team members posing together in a formal studio setting. The printed text on the white border to the right of the photo reads "Green's Nebraska Indians - Guy W. Green, Mgr., Lincoln, Nebr." The postcard (5.5 x 3.5 inches) has not been addressed or mailed. 2) Postcard capturing manager Guy Green posing in uniform. The printed text beneath the image reads "Green's Nebraska Indians - Guy W. Green, Mgr., Lincoln, Nebr." The postcard (5.5 x 3.5 inches) has not been mailed, but does have pencil notations on the reverse. Total: 2 postcards. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
