Presented is one of the earliest season tickets we have ever seen: a Members' ticket to a game played by the Allegheny Base Ball Club of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1877. This was the very first season of the minor-league International Association. This prominent independent team joined the International Association in 1877, only to fold the following season. A number of key players got their start with the Allegheny club, including Hall of Famers Pud Galvin and Mickey Welch, as well as star player Jack Glasscock. The blue pass was issued to "Theo. Sutton," and has been signed by the president and secretary of the club. The front displays the number 25 in the upper left. This is the first example of this particular ticket we have ever seen and represents an extremely rare nineteenth-century paper item. The ticket (4 x 2-1/8 inches) displays moderate creases as well as light corner and edge wear. Graded GOOD 2 by PSA. Reserve $500.
