Chicago Cubs home jersey worn by first baseman Bill Buckner during the 1983 season. The white pinstripe knit jersey displays the Cubs' team-emblem patch on the left breast and features the number "22" on the reverse. All numerals are appliquéd in blue tackle twill. A "Wilson 42" label appears in the collar. The uniform number, year, set number, and size ("22 83 1 42") are chain-stitched in blue upon a strip tag located directly below the manufacturer's label. The year "83" is chain-stitched in blue upon a white strip tag on the left front tail. A Cubs team patch adorns the left sleeve. The jersey is original as issued, with no alterations, and displays moderate wear. (Despite the fact that 1983 Cubs jerseys featured no player names, Bill Buckner was the only player to wear number "22" that season with the club.) 1983 was Buckner's last full season with the Cubs, and he posted his usual solid numbers that year, batting .280 with 16 home runs and 66 RBI. Despite the fact that Buckner finished his twenty-two-year career with 2,715 hits, 1,208 RBI, and a lifetime batting average of .289, and was a former National League batting champion, he will always be remembered for his historic error in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series with the Red Sox. This is an outstanding 1980s Cubs jerseys worn by one of the club's top players from the era. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
