Presented is a partial 2002 Pokemon Legendary Collection Booster Box that features sixteen (out of thirty-six) packs, each with eleven cards, and an original display box. Issued three years after the first Pokemon set was released, the Legendary Collection was a 110-card reprint set that highlighted the most popular cards from the previously released Base, Jungle, Fossil, and Team Rocket Pokemon sets. The artwork of the featured Pokemon remained identical to its original respective set. Legendary Collection cards can be identified by their set symbol of a medallion just beneath the lower right corner of the image. The biggest draw to this set is the "reverse holographic foil" cards, which were produced in an effort of innovation and originality. Holographic cards traditionally feature the Pokemon image in foil, whereas in the Legendary Collection set the image was not foiled but the remainder of the card was, including the text and borders. The reverse holographic cards are very susceptible to scratches as a result of the amount of surface area covered in foil, making these cards some of the toughest Pokemon cards to acquire in high-grade. One reverse holographic foil was inserted into each booster pack, meaning this lot features sixteen of these heavily desired cards, which make this set unique and drive its popularity.
