Exceedingly rare New York Giants full ticket issued for Game 1 of the 1912 World Series held at the Polo Grounds on October 8th. Encapsulated and certified "Authentic" by PSA. This is one of only two 1912 World Series Game 1 full tickets listed in the PSA Population Report, and aside from those two examples we have never seen another. Many historians consider the 1912 World Series, which is the only Series in history to feature a deciding Game 8, one of the most exciting ever played. (A few other World Series went eight games, but they were all best of nine; the 1912 was best of seven but included one tie.) Four of the games were decided by one run, and two games went into extra innings. Boston ace "Smoky Joe" Wood defeated the Giants Jeff Tesreau 4-3 in Game 1, with Wood going the distance in the victory. The ticket (6.25 x 2 inches) displays light corner wear and an approximate quarter-inch area of surface paper loss on the front that affects the "1" in "1912." In Good condition overall, but it displays at a higher level than that suggested by its technically accurate grade. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open).
