Postwar Baseball - 1950s Cards
Presented is an extraordinary 1952 Bowman baseball uncut sheet with thirty-six different cards, including one of the most noteworthy examples of #101 Mickey Mantle that could possibly exist, and which by chance and good fortune happens to be in a perfectly preserved spot on the sheet. (A small back wrinkle is visible on the reverse of the Mantle card, but is very faint and does not break the paper at all. The Mantle card still presents as Near Mint or better.) This is a final production sheet with fully printed backs. Technically in modest condition due to moderate creasing extending through the bottom two rows. Despite the condition flaws, the sheet is still a significant rarity and displays nicely with bright colors and crisp images. The sheet is highlighted by Gil Hodges, Ralph Branca, George Kell, and the key card, #101 Mickey Mantle, which has been protected on all four sides by the surrounding cards, and is in extraordinary condition. The reverse is clean and boldly printed. This is an extremely significant uncut sheet of 1952 Bowman baseball cards, with a stunning key card #101 Mickey Mantle, one of Mantle's most important cards, and one of the most famous of all 1950s bubble-gum cards. An incredible addition to any world-class uncut sheet, Bowman, or Mickey Mantle collection. Dimensions: 18.5 x 12.5 inches. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open).
