1939 Play Ball #92 Ted Williams, signed by Williams in blue Sharpie on the front. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the card and certified the signature as "Authentic." Williams has beautifully scripted his name in blue Sharpie, with the signature grading "10." Ted Williams' Play Ball rookie is part of PSA's Top 250 Sportscards in the Hobby set, based on the book Collecting Sports Legends: The Ultimate Hobby Guide, by Joe Orlando, which selects the most significant cards from all the different sports. Because the card itself has always been an extremely highly prized and valuable collectible, it was not an item that the average fan would submit to Williams during a signing show in the 1980s or '90s, which is no doubt in part responsible for the rarity of signed examples today. This is the just the third we have ever offered, and we have seen fewer than seven others at auction in the past 15 years. The offered card grades Vg-Ex overall and remains an attractive signed example that would be among the highlights of any advanced Ted Williams, Play Ball, or signed Hall of Fame card collection.
