Presented is an ultra high-grade near-complete set of 2000 Pokemon Team Rocket 1st Edition (80 of 83 cards). This set highlights Team Rocket, the villains of the Pokemon fantasy. The Team Rocket series is widely considered to be the most desirable Pokemon set from the second year of issue because it marks the first appearance of "Dark" Pokemon in the trading card game. The cards are numbered 1 to 82 but the set is highlighted by a rare secret 83rd card, Dark Raichu Holographic, which was produced in a limited edition run. Like other Pokemon issues, cards in this set feature round corners, yellow borders, and a blue reverse that prominently displays the iconic Pokemon logo. The Team Rocket set can be identified by the "R" logo located just under the bottom right corner of the picture, while the "Edition 1" marking is displayed under the lower left corner of the picture (on the "Trainer" cards these markings are found at the bottom of the card). The set is broken down by levels of rarity. Cards #1-17 and 83 feature a holographic Pokemon and are the most rare, #18-31, 71, 72, and 80 are considered rare, #32-48, 73-77, 81, and 82 are considered to be uncommon, and #49-70, 78, and 79 are the common cards in the set. Each card has been graded GEM MINT 10 by PSA with the exception of two cards, #11 Dark Magneton Holographic and 77 Nightly Garbage Run, which received the grades of MINT 9. This set is missing only #3 Dark Blastoise Holographic, #4 Dark Charizard Holographic, and #5 Dark Dragonite Holographic for completion (all offered as individual lots in this auction). This is an outstanding near-complete set, assembled with a strict focus on ultra-high grades, which would make a worthy addition to any nonsport, Pokemon, or trading card game collection. The SMR value of the eighty PSA-graded cards is $4,595. Total: 80 cards. Reserve $2,000. Estimate (open).
