Original leather-bound script for the 1950 Universal International Pictures release Abbott & Costello in the Foreign Legion, starring Abbott & Costello. This script was Bud Abbott's personal copy and was originally obtained from his estate. The title of the film, "A. & C. in The Foreign Legion," is stamped in gilt letters on both the cover and spine. The name "Bud Abbott" is stamped in gilt lettering on the cover in the lower right corner. Abbott & Costello were established stars at the time Abbott & Costello in the Foreign Legion was released and their legion of fans made them reliable box-office draws. In this feature the boys played wrestling promoters who traveled to French Algeria in search of a famous wrestler, only to get mistakenly end up in the French Foreign Legion. Original scripts from classic films such as this are scarce, especially those belonging to lead stars. The 123-page script features three notebook holes along the left border of each page and has been rebound (by Bud Abbott) with brown leather boards (8.5 x 11 inches). The covers display light wear and the pages remain clean and bright. In Excellent to Mint condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
