Extremely attractive complete set of the landmark 1954-1955 Topps Hockey series, the first hockey set issued by Topps. This important set includes only sixty cards, and features players from the four American teams: Detroit, New York, Chicago, and Boston. This is a very attractive complete set of 1954-1955 Topps, one of the most popular and classic of all hockey-card sets. This complete set is graded in its entirety by PSA. PSA Grading Composite: EX-MT 6 (4 cards): #22, 34, 46, and 53. EX+ 5.5 (4 cards): #9, 41 Stanley, 44, and 50. EX 5 (23 cards): #7, 12, 14, 21, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 30, 33, 38, 40, 42, 43, 45, 47, 49 Quackenbush, 51 Lindsay, 54, 55, 56 LaPrade and 57. VG-EX+ 4.5 (3 cards): #1 Gamble, 16, and 17. VG-EX 4 (21 cards): #3 Howell 4, 6, 10 Worsley, 11 Bathgate, 13, 15, 18 Mohns RC, 19, 20 Gadsby, 29, 31, 32, 35, 36, 37, 39 Delvecchio, 48, 52, 58 Sawchuk, and 60 Schmidt. VG+ 3.5 (2 cards): #2 and 59. VG 3 (3 cards): #5 Kelly, 8 Howe, and 26. The flush-to-the-bottom-border design of the 1954-1955 Topps Hockey set makes this issue particularly susceptible to edge and corner wear, and makes the assembly of high-grade sets all the more difficult. This is a very attractive set, technically mixed-grade, with excellent eye-appeal across the board. The SMR value for just thirty-one of the graded cards (excluding the cards graded less than EX 5) is $738. Total: 60 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+.
