Original news photo capturing Jackie Robinson shaking hands with teammate Ray Sanders as Pee Wee Reese looks on during spring training in 1948. Certified as an original Type I photograph by PSA/DNA. An "International News Photo" credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with a "Mar 12 1948" date stamp and the handwritten names of the players pictured. Ray Sanders, who was acquired in a trade with the Braves for Eddie Stanky following the 1947 season, was a member of the Dodgers only for a brief period in 1948. During spring training the Dodgers found that Sanders was not fully recovered from injuries suffered the previous year and he was returned to the Braves. Stanky, however, remained with the Braves and the Dodgers received a $60,000 refund instead. The photo (8.5 x 6.5 inches) displays a few tiny areas of light discoloration. In Very Good to Excellent condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
