1961 New York Yankees ticket stub issued for the club’s 81st and final game, against the Boston Red Sox on October 1st, in which Roger Maris broke Babe Ruth’s single-season home run record. PSA/DNA has encapsulated the ticket and certified it as "Authentic." This is one of only two examples listed in the PSA Population Report, both of which are certified as "Authentic." Maris’ epic blast, a solo shot, occurred in the fourth inning with one out against Tracy Stallard. Only 23,154 fans turned out that day, in what was otherwise a meaningless game between the two rivals. As a result, ticket stubs from the game are scarcer than one would imagine. This is just the fourth we have ever offered. The ticket stub (1.5 x 3 inches) displays a few staple holes edge tears, creasing, and abrasions. The vintage blue-ink notation "Game Maris hit 61st homer" appears on the front. In Fair to Good condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
