Nellie Fox H&B signature-model ("C12") bat dating from the mid 1950s. Graded GU 8 by PSA/DNA. The bat, which is not cracked, displays evidence of outstanding use, including numerous ball marks on the right and back barrel, and green bat-rack marks on the barrel and handle. Second baseman Nellie Fox was the main catalyst of the "Go Go" White Sox in the 1950s and one of the game's most durable players. Fox set a record for consecutive games at second base, playing 798 straight between August 7, 1956, and September 3, 1960. Dependable both in the field and at the plate, he batted over .300 and led the league in fielding percentage at his position six times over the course of his nineteen-year career. Fox was also one of the most difficult men to strike out. In 9,232 at bats, Fox struck out only 216 times, which ranks as the third-best percentage in Major League history. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1997. Length: 34 inches. Weight: 33.3 ounces. LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate (open).
