Ticket stub issued for Game 2 of the 1928 World Series between the New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals, held at Yankee Stadium on October 5th. Graded VG 3 (MK) by PSA. This is one of only two graded at this level (both are labeled MK), with just one graded higher. Game 2 was highlighted by Lou Gehrig's first World Series home run. Gehrig's inaugural blast, which occurred in the bottom of the first with two on against Grover Alexander, staked the Yankees to an early 3-0 lead that they never relinquished. The Yankees swept the Cardinals in the Series to capture their second consecutive World Championship. 2.75 x 4 inches. A scarce and historically significant ticket commemorating Gehrig's first World Series home run. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
