Baseball jersey, lettered "DiMaggio's" across the front, signed by Joe DiMaggio in black Sharpie (grading "9/10") on the right breast. Joe DiMaggio's restaurant, located on Fisherman's Wharf, opened in 1937 and for decades was operated by the DiMaggio family; it was one of San Francisco's most popular eateries. Some have suggested that these jerseys were produced for a baseball or softball team sponsored by the restaurant, but they may have just been produced as souvenirs or for signing (as we have never seen any images of the team). The jersey appears to be circa 1960s. The gray flannel jersey, which bears the number "17" on the front and back, features a "Stroh's" manufacturing label (size "L") on the left front tail (Stroh's was a San Francisco based manufacturing company; the label reads "Team Equipment Headquarters"). The jersey displays light use, including minor fraying to the piping around the left sleeve, and is in Excellent condition overall. This is a rare and fascinating Joe DiMaggio signed garment and one of only a few we have ever seen. Pre-certified by Steve Grad and Brian Sobrero/Beckett Authentication Services. Reserve $200.
