Circa 1957 Roger Maris Signed Real-Photo Postcard

Real-photo postcard of Roger Maris as a member of the Cleveland Indians, circa 1957, signed by Maris on the front. SGC has encapsulated the card and certified the signature as "Authentic." Maris' vintage signature has been scripted in blue ink upon his image (for optimal contrast) and grades "6." These real-photo style postcards were provided by the team for use by players to distribute to fans and to use in honoring autograph requests. Maris broke into the Majors with Cleveland in 1957, batting .235 with 14 home runs and 51 RBI. Unfortunately, Cleveland did not exercise the proper patience with the future superstar and he was traded to Kansas City in midseason the following year. This is an exceptional, rare, and ideal Maris vintage signed piece dating to his rookie era. The postcard has not been addressed or mailed, but there are a few small pencil notations on the reverse, including one that reads, "1957 rookie year." Adhesive residue lines the perimeter of the reverse from its having once been mounted in an album, otherwise the card is in Excellent to Mint condition overall. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
