Extremely rare 1966 Topps uncut double proof sheet with 264 cards from the second and third series, featuring many stars and Hall of Famers. The sheet is especially unusual in that it is blank backed but in all other respects is identical to a final production sheet. Highlights include Alston, Banks, Brock, Cepeda, Colavito, Ford, Killebrew, Morgan, Palmer rookie, and Torre. Because this is a "double sheet," each card, including the stars, appears on the sheet three times, as these sheets are each the equivalent of two 132-card sheets. This 264-card "Jumbo" sheet measures 43 x 57 inches. Because of the large size, it is susceptible to minor imperfections. The sheet has various condition flaws such as creases, edge wear, light moisture stains on the right border, a one-inch tear on the fourth row from the bottom, and a 5-1/2 inch tear extending down from the top edge (repaired with clear tape on the reverse). This sheet is very bright, crisp, and extremely impressive, and could easily be cut down into two standard 132-card sheets. Assigning an overall grade to uncut sheets, especially one of this impressive size, can be extremely difficult. Many of the interior cards on this sheet would grade Near Mint. As outlined above, the various condition flaws, mostly relegated to the edges, corners, or outside cards, would cause the sheet to grade more modestly overall. It remains a very impressive and outstanding uncut sheet worthy of any advanced Topps collection. Please note: This sheet has been stored rolled for many years as intended and will be shipped as such. The substantial size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Reserve $300. Estimate (open).
