Presented is a complete set of the popular Dan-Dee Potato Chips cards, which were issued one card per bag of Dan-Dee potato chips. Dan-Dees are usually found with serious condition problems relating to this method of issue, including creases and potato-chip grease stains. The wax coating on the surface of these cards was intended to protect them from grease staining. This is a remarkably strong set for this issue, with most cards appearing even stronger than suggested by the very respectable grades that follow, as Dan-Dees are naturally downgraded due to extremely minor technical factors relating to their method of production and packaging. Since these cards were issued primarily in the Pittsburgh and Cleveland areas, it is not surprising the players featured are mostly Pirates and Indians, although the three New York-area teams are also represented. The entire set has been professionally graded and encapsulated by PSA. PSA Grading Composite: NM-MT 8 (1 card): Garcia. NM 7 (4 cards): Avila, Easter, Roberts, and Wynn (HOF). EX-MT+ 6.5 (3 cards): Feller (HOF), Lemon (HOF), and Lopez (HOF). EX-MT 6 (15 cards): : Bauer, Cooper, Doby (HOF), Friend, Gordon, Houtteman, Irvin (HOF), LaPalm, Mitchell, Rizzuto (HOF), Snider (HOF), Strickland, Surkont, Thomas, and Westlake. EX+ 5.5 (2 cards): Hodges and Rosen. EX 5 (2 cards): Schoendienst (HOF) and Smith. VG-EX 4 (2 cards): Hegan and Mantle (HOF). The total SMR value for just twenty-seven of the cards (not including the two cards graded less than EX) is $3,850. Total: 29 cards. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+.
