Selection of three complete "Mars Attacks" sets, all issued by Topps between 1962 and 1966. The "Mars Attacks" set is unparalleled in the presentation of its colorful, detailed artwork and gruesome graphics. Parents were up in arms upon viewing the gore and mayhem depicted by this scary science fiction set, which tells the story of Martians attacking planet Earth, but kids couldn't get enough of them. The collection consists of the following: 1) 1962 Topps "Mars Attacks" Complete Set (55): 22% Vg-Ex, 70% Gd to Vg, and 8% lesser. Keys: #1 The Invasion Begins (Vg) and 55 Checklist (marked in pen, otherwise Gd). 2) 1964 Topps "Mars Attacks" A&BC United Kingdom Complete Set (55): 58% Vg-Ex to Ex, 31% Vg, and 11% lesser. Keys: #1 The Invasion Begins (Vg) and 55 Checklist (Gd). Topps licensed many of its most popular sets for issue in Great Britain under the A&BC Company name. The cards are identical in design, but smaller in dimensions than the standard Topps cards. In many cases, these cards are actually scarcer than their American counterparts. 3) 1966 Topps "Mars Attacks/Marte Ataca" Argentinian Complete Set (53): 51% Vg to Vg-Ex (mostly Vg), 35% Gd, and 14% lesser. Keys: #1 Se Prepara la Invasion (Fr) and 53 Checklist (marked in pen, otherwise Gd). Topps licensed many of its most popular sets for distribution in foreign countries. The cards are identical in design to their American counterparts but are printed in Spanish and on a creamier-colored stock.
