Basketball jersey and pants worn by Michael Jordan as a member of the "Red" team in "Larry's Game," a charity basketball game held at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana, on June 26, 1988. Resolution Photomatching has conclusively photomatched this jersey to the one worn by Jordan in that game. The red mesh jersey is lettered "Larry's Game" on the front and features the number "23" on the front and reverse. "Jordan" is lettered on the reverse directly above the number. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in white silk-screened paint. A "Champion L" label appears on the left front tail, along with an adjacent flag tag reading "2 " Extra Length." The matching red mesh shorts display a "Champion L" label in the waistband. A "Youthlinks Indiana" patch appears on the left front leg. Both garments are original as issued, with no alterations, and display moderate wear.

Larry's Game was a charity game organized to raise college scholarship money for underprivileged Indiana students. Larry Bird, because of his hometown roots, was the host of the event and he recruited an all-star lineup of NBA talent to take part in the game. The members of the "White" team, coached by Indiana Pacers head coach Jack Ramsay, were Larry Bird of Boston, Magic Johnson of Los Angeles, Mark Aguirre of Dallas, Vern Fleming of Indiana, Ron Harper of Cleveland, Jack Sikma of Milwaukee, Ray Tolbert of the Lakers, Randy Wittman of Atlanta and Mike Woodson of the Los Angeles Clippers. The "Red" team, coached by Charlotte Hornets head coach Dick Harter, consisted of Michael Jordan of Chicago, Steve Alford of Dallas, Sidney Green of New York, Mark Jackson of New York, Chuck Person of Indiana, Isiah Thomas of Detroit, Wayman Tisdale of Indiana, Dominique Wilkins of Atlanta and Herb Williams of Indiana. Bird's "White" team defeated Jordan's "Red" team 142-120 in the inaugural "Larry's Game," which was repeated annually over the next three summers.

This is a unique Michael Jordan game-used uniform dating from his first MVP season in the NBA. Jordan led the league in a number of major categories that year, including field goals (1,069), steals (259), and total points (2,868). Those numbers helped lead the Bulls to 50 wins and earned Jordan his first of an eventual five MVP Awards at season's end. Michael Jordan jerseys are among the most coveted of all Hall of Fame player jerseys in the hobby at the moment. This example is noteworthy in that it not only can be conclusively photomatched but was used only once by Jordan for a well-documented "All-Star" charity game. Full LOA from John Robinson/Resolution Photomatching. Reserve $10,000. Estimate (open).
