San Francisco Giants road jersey worn by outfielder Gary Matthews during the 1975 season. The gray knit jersey is lettered "San Francisco" across the front and features the number "36" on the reverse. "Matthews" is lettered on the reverse, directly above the number. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in orange on black tackle twill. A "Wilson 44" label appears on the left front tail, below which is a gray strip tag that has the year and set number ("75 Set 1") chain-stitched in black. Matthews has signed the jersey in black marker (grading "8") on the lower left tail. The jersey is original as issued, with no alterations. Moderate-to-heavy wear is displayed throughout, including light fraying to the piping on the sleeves. Accompanied by a heavy black undershirt that has been cut at the waist and sleeves. Matthews made his Major League debut with the Giants in 1972 and the following year was named the National League Rookie of the Year. Matthews batted .280, with 12 home runs and 58 RBI in 1975. He finished his sixteen-year career (1972-1987) with 234 home runs, 978 home runs, and a .281 average. Reserve $100. Estimate (open).
