1978 New York Yankees signature collection, featuring fifty-two different team members (including coaches, trainers, clubhouse staff, and front-office personnel), presented in a large framed display. The 1978 New York Yankees will forever be remembered for their remarkable last-season comeback, which culminated in a one-game playoff victory against the Boston Red Sox to decide the American League East division. The team then defeated the Kansas City Royals in the playoffs and the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series to capture their second consecutive world championship. This incredible wall display commemorates the club's memorable 1978 season and features the cut signatures of the following fifty-two team members: Jim Beattie, Ken Clay, Ron Davis, Rawly Eastwick, Ed Figueroa, Goose Gossage, Ron Guidry, Don Gullett, Ken Holtzman, Catfish Hunter, Bob Kammeyer, Paul Lindblad, Sparky Lyle, Larry McCall, Andy Messersmith, Dave Rajsich, Dick Tidrow, Fran Healy, Mike Heath, Thurman Munson, Chris Chambliss, Brian Doyle, Damaso Garcia, Mickey Klutts, Graig Nettles, Domingo Ramos, Willie Randolph, Fred Stanley, George Zeber, Paul Blair, Reggie Jackson, Jay Johnstone, Lou Piniella, Mickey Rivers, Gary Thomasson, Roy White, Dell Alston, Cliff Johnson, Jim Spencer, Stan Thomas, Dick Howser (coach), Yogi Berra (coach), Bob Lemon (Mgr.), Pete Sheehy (clubhouse man), Gene Monahan (trainer), Art Fowler, Gene Michael, Elston Howard (coach), Clyde King, Herm Schneider (trainer), Billy Martin (Mgr.), and Al Rosen (team president). Each of the signatures is individually mounted within the display. The vast majority of the signatures are in the form of signed index cards (both lined and unlined), but a few appear on miscellaneous items, including Perez-Steele Hall of Fame postcards and baseball cards. The signatures, signed in a variety of inks, range from "7" to "10," averaging "9." The decorative piece also features a "pinstripe" matting, a color photo (12 x 5 inches) of the 1978 Yankees, and a roster listing. In apparent Near Mint condition. Total dimensions: 34 x 42.5 inches. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot. Reserve $500.
