Outstanding collection of nineteen unopened rack packs of 1974 Topps baseball containing forty-two cards each. In place of the standard header card, each rack pack has a Pepsi-Cola Detroit Tiger Fan Club card. According to Steve Hart of Baseball Card Exchange, several teams (he recalled 4-5) packaged 1974 Topps cards with team-specific headers as promotional items for fan clubs or other giveaways. The 1974 Topps set features the rookie card of Hall of Famer Dave Winfield, as well as numerous other stars and Hall of Famers from the era including Mike Schmidt, Nolan Ryan, Pete Rose, and Hank Aaron. Each rack pack has been placed into a plastic top loader holder and comes shrink-wrapped by Baseball Card Exchange (BBCE, owned by Steve Hart, the foremost expert on unopened material). The packs have normal aging associated with rack packs from this era but are in otherwise excellent condition. The cards visible on front and back appear in Nr/Mt condition overall with varying centering. Some of the Hall of Famers showing on the packs include: Dave Winfield rookie (back of pack), Mike Schmidt (back of pack), Lou Brock (top of pack), Luis Aparicio (top of pack, abrasion on bottom edge of card), and World Series Game 2 - Willie Mays (top of pack). While we cannot state with certainty, it is possible that within these packs are numerous cards, both stars and commons, that would be ideal candidates for professional grading. This forty-five year old group of rack packs would make an outstanding addition to an advanced collection of unopened material, or present excellent break value if offered for resale individually. Total: 19 rack packs. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+.
