Complete eight-card "Tail Spin Tommy" subset from the 1936 R28 Anonymous "Cartoon Adventures" card set, entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA. This extremely rare 1930s issue is composed of subsets featuring Tailspin Tommy, Tarzan of the Apes, Broncho Bill and Buck Rogers. Three characters are represented by a subset consisting of one portrait and seven action story cards. Twenty-four cards (#425 to 448) are devoted to Buck Rogers. The Buck Rogers subset (which is offered as a separate lot in this auction) is highly prized by both science-fiction character collectors and non-sport card collectors. This lot consists of cards from the "Tail Spin Tommy" subset (#401-408): #401 (VG 3), 402 (EX 5), 403 (GOOD 2), 404 (GOOD 2), 405 (EX+ 5.5), 406 (GOOD 2), 407 (EX 5), and 408 (VG-EX 4). This is a very rarely offered complete subset from this scarce 1930s nonsport issue and one that would be a welcome addition to even the most advanced collection. Total: 8 cards. Reserve $300.
